Nuclear Medicine Technology:
The Nuclear Medicine Institute (NMI) is known worldwide as one of the best and one of the most established programs of its kind. NMI also is home to the largest accredited nuclear medicine technology training program in the United States.
Become a nuclear medicine technologist (NMT) who has a solid background in mathematics and the physical, chemical and biological sciences. Under the supervision of a physician, an NMT is responsible for:
- Radiation safety
- Quality control
- Preparing and administering the radiopharmaceuticals
- Performing imaging procedures
- Collecting and preparing biological specimens
- Performing special laboratory procedures
- Preparing data for interpretation by a physician
Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT):
Did you know that you can complete a bachelor of science degree with a dual major in NMT and PET/CT in as little as five years? By double majoring you could become certified in NMT, PET and CT. You will be a highly-skilled, knowledgeable and concerned technologist who provides quality patient care in medical imaging.
PET/CT technologists work in a wide variety of settings, including:
- Community hospitals
- University-affiliated teaching hospitals and medical centers
- Outpatient imaging facilities
- Government and private research institutions
